Confidential vs Anonymous Reports

Confidential Reports

A confidential report is a report where the reporter identifies themself.

Confidential Report Process

One of the Learning Environment deans will review the report and contact the reporting individual, if needed, to gather additional information about the incident and the individual’s preference for next steps. The dean will not share the individual’s identity without their permission, unless the incident involves sexual harassment/misconduct or gender discrimination (federally mandated Title IX reports), there is a need to ensure the safety of the individual, or is otherwise required by law. The dean will communicate the outcome of the report directly to the individual.

Benefits of Reporting Confidentially

  • You can control how and when your report is addressed.
  • The Learning Environment deans can contact you to obtain additional information, if needed.
  • You can learn the outcome of your report.

Anonymous Reports

An anonymous report is a report where the reporter does not identify themself. However, reporters can create an account in the Professionalism Accolade and Incident Reporting (PAIR) case management system for communication purposes and still remain anonymous.

Anonymous Report Process

One of the Learning Environment deans will review the report and determine next steps based on their best judgment and current policies and procedures.

Limitations of Anonymous Reports Without Creating a Reporter Account

  • You have limited control over how your report is addressed.
  • The Learning Environment deans cannot contact you to obtain additional information, if needed. Insufficient detail about an incident limits the actions which can be taken.
  • You cannot learn the outcome of your report.

Benefits of Creating an Anonymous Reporter Account

The Professionalism Accolade and Incident Reporting (PAIR) system gives anonymous reporters the option to create an account. The account information is not shared with the OLE. By creating an account, the reporter can remain anonymous and still communicate with the OLE, benefiting from the same advantages as confidential reporters.
